The coach is an AI

The From Roots to Love voice coach is an artificial intelligence. It is not a human, not a therapist, psychologist, counselor or doctor, and no person is listening live to your conversation. The coach will say that it's an AI at the start of every session, and will always answer honestly if you ask.

The coach is presented as "Rowan". Rowan is a fictional character: his face, the voice and the images of him on this site, in our videos and on social media are AI-generated. They do not depict a real person, and any stories they tell are illustrative, not personal experiences.

What it's built on

  • The coach's way of working is designed around our ROOTS Method and written instructions created by From Roots to Love.
  • Conversations run on the Retell AI voice platform, which converts your speech to text and the coach's replies to speech.
  • The coach's replies are generated by a large language model (currently from OpenAI), accessed through Retell AI.
  • If you choose, the coach can use short summaries of your earlier sessions and your love root quiz result to give you continuity. You can turn this off at any time in your account.

What the coach can do

  • Listen and reflect what you say, without judgment, at any hour.
  • Ask questions that help you notice patterns and where they come from.
  • Guide you through ROOTS reflections and small practices.

What the coach can't and won't do

  • Diagnose or treat any condition, or replace therapy, medical care or medication advice.
  • Handle emergencies. If you mention danger, self-harm or abuse, it will stop coaching and share crisis resources (988, 911, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, RAINN). It cannot call anyone for you.
  • Be your partner. It won't flirt, role-play romance or encourage you to depend on it. It's designed to support your real-life relationships.
  • Give legal or financial advice.
  • Be perfect. AI can make mistakes, misunderstand you or say something unhelpful. Trust your own judgment, and tell us if something felt wrong: support@fromrootstolove.com.

How your conversations are handled

  • During a session, your voice is processed in real time by Retell AI and the language model provider to produce the coach's replies.
  • Our voice provider (Retell AI) stores the recording and transcript of each call for a limited time to operate the service, then deletes it automatically after 7 days.
  • In your From Roots to Love account, we keep only what you choose:
    • Full — the transcript and a short summary;
    • Summary only — a short summary;
    • Nothing — no conversation content is kept after the session.
  • We always keep basic usage records (date and length of each session) to manage your minutes and billing.
  • We don't use your conversations to train AI models, and we don't sell them.
