The method
The ROOTS Method
Step 1
Recognize
See the pattern clearly — who you choose, how you react, where you lose yourself.
We start with what is happening now. The partners you are drawn to, the moments you shut down or over-give, the reactions that feel bigger than the situation. Naming the pattern without judgment is the first act of freedom.
Step 2
Origin
Trace it back home — to your father, your mother and the house you grew up in.
Every pattern made sense once. We look at the relationship with your father, the role you played between your parents and the lessons about love you absorbed long before you could question them.
Step 3
Old loyalties
Uncover the invisible promises — like not being happier than your mother.
Children stay loyal to their families in ways nobody sees. Repeating a parent's unhappy marriage, taking a side, carrying a parent's pain as your own. These loyalties feel like love. We bring them into the light.
Step 4
Tender release
Honor your parents without living their life.
Release is not blame and it is not cutting anyone off. It is learning to respect where you come from while giving back what was never yours to carry.
Step 5
Self-chosen love
Choose from peace, not from the wound.
With the old map understood, you can finally choose freely — partners, boundaries, the kind of love you want. Not a reaction to the past. A choice that is truly yours.
Where it comes from
ROOTS draws on two well-established bodies of work: attachment theory, which describes how our earliest bonds shape the way we connect as adults, and the family-systems idea of invisible loyalties — the unspoken ways children stay faithful to their family's patterns, even when those patterns hurt them.
ROOTS is a coaching framework, not a clinical treatment. It is designed for reflection and growth, not to diagnose or treat any condition.
Start with step one. Find your love root.
